Named after his friend Captain James Vashon, Captain George Vancouver discovered the Island in 1792.
Year round the shops, galleries, studios, local industries and Saturday Market merchants offer a wide variety of items ranging from specialty foods to the finest of artwork, fresh roasted coffees and espresso, to clothing and jewelry.
During the summer, Vashon farmers extend an invitation to visit their U-Pick strawberry and raspberry fields; and the hiking, biking, water skiing, riding and sailing are all activities Islanders love.
Vashon is served by daily, year round ferries from 3 ports
